"The meaningful care I received"

About: Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary / Ear, Nose & Throat Dumfries & Galloway Royal Infirmary / General Medicine Glasgow Royal Infirmary / Ear, Nose & Throat

(as the patient),

I was admitted to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary at the beginning of this year (January 2024) with severe vomiting and loss of consciousness.

The staff were so supportive and made me feel I mattered, despite my circumstances. I do not drink alcohol but that was probably what it looked like.

I had a CAT scan and MRI as I was displaying signs of a brain tumour. Fortunately that wasn't the case. I had vestibular neuritis/labyrinthitis which was confirmed by the ENT Consultant a week later.

After 2 weeks, I could walk slowly with crutches and was discharged into the care of my friend.

I would especially like to thank the staff in Ward D 9 who took such good care of me.

I am still waiting for an ENT consultation at Glasgow Royal Infirmary as my balance is not what it should or could be and I'm deaf in the left ear.
