Anything else?
The care I received at Poole Maternity Hospital was outstanding. After having had a previous experience with the birth of my first child which wasn't quite so positive, I was so very impressed with the care and service that was given to me this time. I had a very difficult birth. A second emergency caesarean section, in which I had internal bleeding. The doctors, surgeons and anaesthetist were amazing. They worked quickly to make sure that I was okay and handed me my baby whilst they were sorting out the problem. (I in fact knew very little about what was actually happening at the time - to keep me calm and to not 'ruin' my moment of meeting my daughter for the first time I am sure. For this I will always be grateful). The midwives on the delivery suite were fantastic. So caring and supportive. Following the operation I experienced more problems. Just one of those unfortunate things! I was very poorly with a bowel problem - possibly triggered by trauma and although it was rather worrying for a while, the care and attention I received from all - surgeons, consultants, doctors and the wonderful midwives on the post-natal ward - ensured that I felt I was in the best possible care. I wasn't left alone and felt like I was with a very friendly group of people. My emotional state seemed to be just as important to them as my physical state. My condition was apparently rare and not really seen on the maternity ward so the personal touch by all the staff was really needed to put me at as much ease as possible. I am happy to say that I was sorted out and my little girl could be brought back to my side. The midwives and care assistants all took such great care of her when I was unable to. I cannot thank the staff enough and I hope that mums and dads-to-be wouldn't hesitate in choosing Poole to welcome their child into the world. The staff who work together to bring new life into the world at Poole absolutely go above and beyond their job description and for this they should be recognised. .
