Can't thank Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for their help in fitting me with a pacemaker.
I had an appointment recently and when I got there I was given lots of useful information as to the procedure. After talking it through with Dr Fersia and one of his team it was my decision to postpone for a week. They discussed with me about a pacemaker more suited to my heart. My left ventricle needs help and so recommended left bundle branch area pacing (aka physiological pacing). They did not have one there but would have one for the following week.
When I arrived I was met by lovely friendly nurses, (some familiar). They were very efficient and caring. The theatre staff were also very kind and talked me through things.
Dr Fersia performed the procedure under local anaesthetic and again I was treated with kindness and respect.
I had various tests carried out over the day and was allowed home in late afternoon .
It's early days yet but I feel better and cannot thank everyone enough.
Well done DGRI!
