"The new knee should last around 30 years!"

About: Trauma & orthopaedics / Orthopaedic National Treatment Centre

(as a service user),

I went in for a complete right knee replacement, the consultant met with me prior to the operation a few months earlier. I was in constant pain prior to this procedure. He explained exactly what would happen during the operation and afterwards.

The operation was painless, I had to recover afterwards.  During my stay in hospital the nurses and the physio were absolutely fantastic, nothing was too much trouble for them. After 3 days I was allowed home.

I have recently met the consultant, he was very impressed by how far I had come since the operation. He explained that the new knee should last around 30 years!

I cannot thank him enough for this procedure, the constant pain has finally gone, my mental wellbeing has vastly improved.

Hi Titanium 12

My name is Yvonne, I am the Senior Charge Nurse for the Orthopaedic Outpatient Department.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to give such lovely feedback following your hospital experience. It is great to hear you are recovering well and the positive impact this has had on your life. Living in constant pain must be dreadful so now to be pain free must be very liberating.

I will share your feedback with all the team.

Here's to another 30 years!

I wish you well in your continued recovery.

Best Wishes

Yvonne and The NTC Team
