Kathryn in EEG department informed me of a possible visitation the week before my sons EEG to help with his nerves which was great.
We were able to explore the room and equipment that would be used, put on songs he enjoys etc to help him feel at ease in the room and she played with a cotton swab on his legs and head, giving him a turn to play with it make it not scary. She said she would do her best to ensure it was her who would be performing the EEG on my son as he has met her and it would be a familiar face.
On his appointment day he remembered her and was more settled. Kathryn has a wonderful way with kids and parents, putting Old MacDonald on for him to watch while she applied the probes to his head and just being so calm throughout.
The department is clean and staff very welcoming, coming over to chat to my son while we waited. This was brilliant as it was helping to keep my son awake and helped in keeping him at ease (he usually wants to leave as soon as we enter a department and gets upset, clinging and crying).
I want to thank Mary, Paul and Kathryn for their kindness and for giving us a positive experience.
