Anything else?
Had gynae laparoscopic surgery 28/11/13 and was in for 2 days. Arrived at the SAL at 7am. Was advised that I was 3rd on the list and eventually went down to theatre at 12pm. Was given lots of information and was able to speak with my surgeon and anaesthetist beforehand. I found the SAL a bit strange. It is basically a waiting room with a TV, magazines and a toilet. However it provided some distraction and you are able to engage with others awaiting surgery. After almost 4 hours in surgery I was placed on Ward 8. This is a mixed sex ward with each side rooms dedicated to either males or females. They have separate gender showers and toilets but it is quite strange seeing a mixture of men and women pacing about the corridors. The ward and areas I visited were extremely clean and 99.9% of the staff were amazing. Very attentive and caring. My only gripe was having to wait so long for my medication from the pharmacy before I could go home. It basically took them 6 hours from the Dr writing up my script to them dispensing it! Aside from this I wouldn't hesitate in having treatment at this Hospital again and would recommend to others.
"Great care and professionalism from Castle Hill...."
