"I left feeling very angry"

I had an appointment with a consultant following some seizures I had experienced.

I had documented my experiences fully so I could be as informative as possible but I was constantly questioned on some wording I used as to how I knew the big words and had I found them on Google.

I had an MRI and ECG before my appointment with the consultant which was the reason for the appointment but they did not find the time to look at my notes and suggested that I have both. When I informed them I had already had these tests they were surprised.

My experience of this consultant was that they were rude, arrogant and had a frankly an appalling manner to approach patients with, I left feeling very angry. I felt they spoke to me as if I was very old and stupid, they were extremely condescending.

I am a strong woman who is not easily intimidated but I’m sure there are many who would have come away feeling very upset. It may have been different if they had some answers to my problem but they did not.

I do not feel that it is ok to treat patients in this appalling way and question why someone this unpleasant wants to work with people who they cannot be at least polite to.

Dear Angry1505,

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback. I am sorry to hear you have been experiencing seizures and you found the consultants attitude upsetting at your recent appointment, this is not what we would wish for.

Due to the anonymous nature of Care Opinion I am unable to comment in more detail, however if you would like to contact me via dansmith1@nhs.net quoting reference 1233354, I would welcome the opportunity to look into your concerns further.

I understand you may prefer not to get in touch. If this is the case, please can I assure you I will share your feedback with the consultant involved and clinical lead.

Again, thank you for your feedback and I wish you well in your recovery.

Kind regards

Dan
