"Brilliant diabetic podiatry"

Suffering from neuropathy, I have to watch my feet carefully. I could injure them without knowing, and cause all sorts of nasty injuries.

I had a problem with some swelling under my heel, and phoned for advice. I was asked to attend at 8:00 the following morning, and it was dealt with immediately. The staff examined it, carefully excised the hard skin, and described how it could have happened.

Since then, I've had a couple of follow-up appointments, where they knew all about it, and examined it carefully before discussing various remedies and strategies for avoiding a recurrence. The focussed attention of Locala's diabetc podiatry team, and their new IT set-up has enabled them to be very clearly focussed, and fully aware of my problems, without me having to spend long times giving a history every time I see them.

They can concentrate on the therapy, rather than the paperwork - brilliant.

Our new IT set-up has really revolutionised the way we work - we always have the patient's records available and so it is easy to see if anything has changed with their medical history and what treatments the patient has had, even if a colleague had seen them. As you said, as a patient you too have felt the benefit of the new system - allowing staff to "concentrate on the therapy, rather than paperwork"
