On Monday, I went for an ECG at Queen Margaret, and was told I would be going to The Victoria, and I would need an overnight bag, which shocked me as I didn’t know really why, but a Cardiologist would advise when I got in.
I arrived around 18:00, and the nurses were ready for me, and guided to a lovely side room, where I was connected to a monitor, more confusion.
I saw a Junior Doctor later who advised that Dr Everett would see me in the morning. She explained my heart condition and said I would probably be getting a Pacemaker fitted, now a bit concerned.
Anyway, after the consultation with Dr Everett my mind was reassured that I was in safe hands and confident that I would be a lot better with it in place, and I was on the list for Thursday, i was overwhelmed by this timescale, and on Thursday at 11:00 it was fitted and I was back up my room an hour later, and discharged at 18:00, with very little pain and my heart rate normal. It was like a miracle had taken place.
I can only thank the doctors and nurses in Ward 21, for their professional, but very comforting reassuring attitude, the were fabulous. Can’t mention any specific person as they were all tremendous, and ready to go the extra mile to help.
We are very lucky to have a service as good as this, considering the pressure they are under, top class
