I was back at the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline for my latest operation under anaesthetic (into the high 20s in number of ops now).
The surgical staff were lovely, friendly and so kind, we had a good laugh and chat too and my consultant, as always, gave some fun banter. The whole team on the Day Surgery ward were amazing, they remembered me from all the times before despite it being over 6 months as my last op was at the Victoria Hospital. To have so many nurses and other staff remember your name, your story and make you feel like your at home is incredible.
They deserve the utmost respect, acknowledgement and praise for everything they do, they really do put patients at the heart of it all and it definitely helps recovery.
I will no doubt see them all again very soon as my ops are 6 weeks apart at the moment, but knowing that I'm going to a ward where I have amazing relationships with all the staff makes me feel so comforted and understood.
They are an absolute credit to NHS Fife and the wider surgical teams. No matter what colour they wear, they are all incredible at their jobs.
