About: Scottish Ambulance Service

(as a relative),

My mum (who has multiple health issues) was playing with her granddaughter at the park. She landed wrong on her ankle and had to be taken to hospital for an X-ray. I drove up to the doors of the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy and struggled to work out how to get my mum transferred onto a wheelchair to get her inside. One of the paramedic offered to help. I couldn't have been more grateful.

On the way back out of A&E, after confirming her ankle was broken in two places, my mum was determined she was going to try transfer herself back into my car. She lost her balance but as of by magic the paramedics had already worked out she was having issues. Three of them swooped in to catch her and assist her to the car. They were like super heroes. When I needed them, they were there and I can thank them enough.

Their jobs must be difficult but I very much appreciated their input that day. I'd love them.to know how thankful I am that people like that are in the job.

Dear Wee mum,

Many thanks for taking the time to share your feedback here on CareOpinion. I am so sorry to read about what happened to your mum and I do hope that she is feeling better. It is great to hear positive stories about the work our wonderful staff provide - I like the idea of them swooping in.

I would like to pass on the feedback to the crews directly and let the management team know they were looking out for those around them. To do so we would need to know the date and rough time that you were going in and out the department? We should be able to locate crews that were there at that time from that information - if not we will just put it out to the staff as a thanks to anyone and everyone who was there, and who has done something similar in the past. This information can be sent to sas.feedback@nhs.scot for the team to pick up. If you do decide to do this, would you be so kind as to make reference to your CareOpinion username so that the team can easily locate your story as it is unlikely to be me as I am on leave next week.

I wish you and your mum all the very best and thanks again.

Kind Regards

Alan
