"My care and treatment"

About: Breast Care / Breast Imaging Laurel House Chemotherapy Unit / Cancer Services

(as the patient),

I have been attending nhsct Antrim Area Hospital since June 24 firstly attending Mr Whiteside clinic for diagnosis and surgery then Laurel House under Oncologist R Douglas. The care and attention I received during my treatment journey has been simply amazing. All staff including medical, nursing, allied health professionals, admin and auxiliary staff was excellent. They always had time to listen, support and care despite heavy workloads. Their care, compassion and competence made a very difficult time manageable. I can not thank them enough they are amazing.

Dear RoseW

Thank you so much for the story you shared on Care Opinion. My name is Kristy-Lee Greene (Lead Nurse for Cancer Services) and I am responding on behalf of the Laurel House nursing team.

I was so pleased to read about the experience you had in the NHSCT and describing that you received the support, care, and compassion that you needed from across our whole team in Laurel House.

We have shared your comments with all the various teams and individuals that you listed and I know receiving such kind comments and appreciation from yourself will be gratefully received and we thank you for taking the time to recognize their role in your care and how they positively impacted on your experience.

You expressed gratitude for the fact there was 'time to listen'. This was particularly meaningful to the staff because they often report feeling like that is the aspect of care that can be unintentionally impacted when delivering care to high numbers of patients during a clinic. I know the team endeavour every day to ensure patients feel listened to so we are very grateful for this positive feedback from you.

You referred to the staff having ‘heavy workloads’ - the team In Laurel House consistently recognise the need to put their patients first and willingly prioritise the treatment needs of patients. The wellbeing of our team is of utmost importance and as a service we strive to ensure our staff feel supported and valued.

Thank you again for your valuable feedback and may I take the opportunity to wish you well for the future.
