About: New Stobhill Hospital / Outpatients

(as a service user),

I attended an outpatient clinic at Stobhill Hospital and was greeted by a very pleasant receptionist. I was asked in a very nice manner for my personal details - ie. DOB, address, phone number, CHI number. These details were then as a result broadcast for all present in the room to hear, something which I've found has become particularly common when dealing with NHS staff. As someone who's currently on the receiving end of numerous cold calls, all claiming to be NHS asking for self same details, I find it most disconcerting to be asked by genuine staff for same information and have it/to broadcast it .

Dear Daithi

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback about you visit to Stobhill Hospital. I am pleased that you found the receptionist pleasant. At the clinic, we need to ensure that the patient’s details are correct at each visit. However, I appreciate your concerns regarding confidentiality and would like to assure you that your feedback has been shared with the staff to remind them of the importance of patient confidentiality. I would also like to apologise for the distress this has caused you.

If you are unhappy with how we handle personal information you can contact our Data Protection Officer @ Data.Protecton@ggc.scot.nhs.uk.

Thank you.

Nicole
