I attended the breast clinic last week. I was quite nervous and apprehensive as you could imagine. I am also disabled and blind and very unwell with other complications so you can understand how daunting appointments can be. There was absolutely no need to be worried at all.
The nurse breast specialist Rachel was absolutely wonderful. She was so kind and helpful and put me at ease instantly, she also didn’t mind my son being there and helping me as he is my main carer and knows which bits are sore and how to lift me without causing distress.
She examined me and explained everything that was going to happen. It makes all the difference to have people who care for you and show some empathy, this really goes a long way for the patient helping them to relax.
She then sent us round for a mammogram. Now I can’t remember the two young nurses names but I am sure they will remember me. They were also fantastic kind and helpful, nothing was a bother to them, they were so patient with me they really went above and beyond, absolutely fantastic. I have been to different departments and shocked at the treatment I and some other patients have received.
I went back to clinic to see Rachel. Everything was fine which was good. She explained a few other things before I left. I hope I have her name right but I am sure she will remember us.
I hope you can pass on our regards at the wonderful treatment we received and what a wonderful nurse she is. A star. We really can’t thank her enough.
