"Poor care from my GP"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Trauma and orthopaedics Stennack Surgery

(as the patient),

I had a fall in my garden. I cracked my right knee on a sharp edge of a low slate wall. I went to my then GP. They said it was just bruised and would heal. However, it is still very painful!

My new GP is not listening to me about it. I had an X-ray which revealed no damage to the replacement joint. I firmly believe that it’s a torn ligament but my GP refuses to give me a scan or even an ultrasound. I therefore, rang Royal Cornwall Hospital to book a private scan but the person in charge of private care is never there!

I am in excruciating pain and can’t put any weight on the right leg. This Dr is very confused between my right and left knee! I have Arthritis in my left knee and have been referred for a replacement joint. This has nothing to do with the problem with my right knee. The Dr insists that the referral is for my right knee , which it is not.

You have to wait 15 months for an appointment with an orthopaedic consultant for knee replacement. To leave a torn ligament in the knee is dangerous and should have been repaired immediately. Please please can you help me 🙏🙏
