I had a total knee replacement carried out at the N. T. C. Victoria hospital Kirkcaldy. The friendly staff at the reception pointed me in the right direction to the lift to level one within the building.
On entering level one my particulars were taken by firstly by a nurse followed by my consultant followed by a anaesthetist and then by the theatre nurse prior to be taken to the ward one within the N.T.C.
On entering ward one the nurses were very helpful in getting me settled in to my room and preparing me for the operating theatre, shortly after that the theatre nurse came for me and took me to the theatre annex where the theatre staff were already waiting to prepare me for my operation .
The theatre personnel were all very helpful in preparing and informing me of what was happening whilst preparing me for the surgery.
The operation lasted between one and two hours , on completion I was transferred to my room where health checks were carried out at regular intervals throughout the day and into the next day until it was decided that I was fit enough to be discharged by the nursing staff.
Lastly I was checked by the physiotherapists to make sure that I was able to do certain tasks before I was discharged.
In my opinion my journey from start to finish in our N.T. C. was nothing short of excellent.
"Nothing short of excellent"
