Throughout my pregnancy I was cared for by community midwife Samantha. It is clear to see the passion she has for her job by the care she provides to her patients as she goes above and beyond for both mum and baby. I cannot thank her enough for all the care I received as she listened so attentively to every little worry I had (which was a lot!) and made sure she had put them all at ease before I walked out the door. After one of my appointments my baby's heart rate was low and she was so fast acting and got me seen at Maternity Assessment straight away to rule out anything sinister and thankfully baby was fine. We even had the pleasure of a postnatal home visit where she got to meet our baby boy and it was just so nice to watch the person who provided a lot of care during pregnancy meet our baby at the end of the process.
On more of a sad note, as part of my postnatal care I was seen at home by various midwives to check on me and baby. Upon checking my stomach one midwife made a comment that was quite upsetting to me as she referred to my stomach as looking like the Michelin Man. This obviously caused me quite a lot of upset as a new mum with emotions all over the place and hormones adjusting as well as adjusting to my new body to then have that comment made really upset me.
Besides that, I’d like to say thanks to all Midwives involved in our care at home as over all it was a positive experience.
