I recently attended Crosshouse Hospital at 40+1 weeks for a growth scan and CTG. When I was taken through for the CTG, Louise took the time to discuss my pregnancy & birth plan, and spoke to me about my birth rights. She made me aware that accepting the CTG was my choice, not mandatory. At a previous appointment for a CTG, this was not communicated to me at all, and it was presented as something I had to do. I really appreciate Louise taking the time to discuss this with me, and felt that the care I received was really individualised.
Louise had a great warmth to her that I had previously only felt from staff in the home birth team (vs. the hospital team). I had received acupuncture earlier in the day as part of my antenatal care (from the home birth team) and Louise understood that, in order for the acupuncture to be effective, I needed to be as calm and relaxed as possible.
Later that day, I went into labour and had a very successful birth. I want to recognise Louise for her part in this, and for advocating for patients in this way. I’m so grateful and appreciative. She’s a great addition to the hospital staff.
