"Can’t thank you them enough for saving our baby girl’s life!"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Accident & Emergency Crosshouse Hospital / Paediatrics

(as a parent/guardian),

Our baby girl contracted sepsis and meningitis at 3 days old and was admitted to Crosshouse hospital for 3 weeks requiring care and treatment.

The care provided was outstanding and we can not thank the staff enough. The paediatric assessment unit (ward 1A) responded very quickly on our arrival. We can not thank Alex (charge nurse) and Dr Connor for their rapid response and expertise.   The initial few days of the admission were very difficult and the allocated nurse Niamh was fantastic looking after not only our sick baby but our family.

The ANPs were also fantastic and have been extremely supportive towards us as we have had several hospital visits since discharge where they have been incredible and always take the time to listen to our concerns.

On discharge from the paediatric unit, it became apparent that our baby had a milk intolerance which may have been the reason why she then went on to develop a bottle aversion.

The wonderful ANP’s (Clare and Evonne) at Crosshouse hospital referred us to a dietitian for support. The dietitian Hazel was incredible. The support she offered was amazing and really helped us through really tough times. Hazel was able to provide amazing advice and it was very clear she was very knowledgeable.

Hazel was always available to contact and nothing was ever a bother.

All staff from Crosshouse hospital paediatric ward 1 A and ward C have been truly amazing. We are truly grateful to every single one of them and can’t thank you them enough for saving our baby girl’s life!
