"So kind & understanding"

About: Inverurie Hospital / Audiology

(as a service user),

I had been assessed for Hearing Aids, my appointment came & it was to attend Inverurie Health & Care Hub. To say I was apprehensive & nervous is an understatement, however I got there went to Reception 2, a lovely receptionist directed me to waiting room 6 upstairs & to the lift as I am not always steady on my feet.

Once seated in a very airy, bright, clean & calm waiting room I was soon called. As anyone may know when you have a hearing problem you seem to work extra hard to listen sort of be red alert so you don't miss your name etc. I needn't have worried, the wonderful Audiologist came & clearly spoke my name.

I was shown into the clinician's room where she introduced herself, Lin, then asked a few questions then ran through the procedure to fit me with my aids. Each step Lin explained everything clearly, checking I had understood & heard plus at each stage if I had any questions.

Once my aids were live it was quite a moment I actually was emotional & Lin was so kind & understanding, talking me through it all & giving me time to talk me through everything, handing out batteries, operating instructions & how to load an App onto my phone, plus how to maintain my aids & where to ask for support, get batteries etc from. Lin's reassurance was lovely.

I left feeling confident & equipped to maintain my aids plus being able to hear sounds & tones. Yes I am still getting use to them but I don't have any worries about it as I have information on what to do etc & telephone numbers for help. So thank you Lin, I do hope you have your name right.

Hi Miss DMU - I've been in touch with Audiologist Lin at the Inverurie Clinic and she has asked me to the share the below with you:

'Dear Miss DMU,

Thank you for sharing such kind words about your visit to the Inverurie Health and Care Hub to have your hearing aids fitted. It really means a lot to me, and the wider team, to know that the planning and thought we put into making sure the service we provide is as person centred as it can be, is appreciated. Leaving the clinic feeling confident with new hearing aids is how I hope everyone visiting our service feels – and this is why feedback from our patients is so important.

Please be assured I have shared your experience with everyone here at the clinic and it was a welcome morale boost for us all.

Take care,

Lin'
