"Hand fracture"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Accident and emergency Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Therapies

(as a service user),

I fractured my hand recently and attended the emergency department (ED). It was out of hours so minor injuries was closed.

Although it was busy and took a long time to be seen (I expect this as I was an injury and others needed to be seen before me) the care was excellent. Triaged efficiently, seen by ED doctor who was kind and thorough. Cast put on by HCA who was also excellent. I also witnessed very good care to other patients whilst waiting.

Later seen by a hand therapist, James. He was really thorough and made sure I understand exactly what the plan was and what I needed to do. I had a follow up where they made sure everything was as it should be. He was very patient and professional.

Thank you to everyone, we are very lucky to have the RD&E
