I was asked by the infertility clinic to go for this daunting x-ray called a hysterosalpingogram (HSG) at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary. I read up about it online and my fears grew and was feeling very nervous about the whole test. Basically, the HSG checks if the fallopian tubes are open and the structure of the uterus is okay. A fluid is passed through and a picture x-ray is taken.
Although the test was uncomfortable and had some cramps during procedure (which only lasted around 5-10 minutes) I was made really at ease by the radiology nurse who was in the room with me. She was very calm, friendly and re assuring, making me relaxed and the procedure was over and done with smoothly.
So anybody else who may be getting this test done, it will be okay and over in a few moments. But a big thanks to the doctors and nurse who made this daunting test okay for me.
I was pleased with the short discussion after the test with the consultant gynae.
Thanks.
