"Noisy wards"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Trauma and Orthopaedics (14- 16)

(as a service user),

I was recently receiving care for a broken bone. Hospital is supposed to be a place for rest and recovery but I was constantly being woken up and disturbed by other patients' phones ringing and them talking loudly on the ward. They were also playing videos and music directly from the phone. I think they should be made to put their phones on silent and talk quietly. And make them use headphones.

Also, I feel the 2 visitors to a bed rule should be adhered to. 4 and 5 visitors to a bed is unfair and stressful for other patients trying to rest.

Dear GGG1969,

Thank you for sharing your experience of University Hospital Wishaw, Trauma and Orthopaedics.

I am sorry to hear of your experience regarding the noise levels in the ward and that people were talking loudly on their phones or playing videos directly from the phone. I am glad, however that the nurses were lovely.

I will take your feedback to the ward management for review and learning, especially around the visiting rules.

I hope you are recovering well.

Kind Regards,

Jenni
