"Surgery cancelled two weeks before the op"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neurosurgery (Ward 64 – 66)

(as a service user),

I had a bleed 24 years ago on the brain. The service back then was brilliant, it was known as Southern General. Now they found a new aneurysm on my brain, I have family history of it. The day of my pre op, 15 minutes before I travelled up to Queen Elizabeth, I got a text message to say that my operation had been cancelled. Two weeks before the op. I was disgusted at this. The reason it was cancelled: the consultant was attending a family matter then the summer holidays are coming up.

Dear scorecardhe53

Thank you for your feedback and I am sorry that your planned operation was cancelled. I would be keen to investigate further and see if I can provide any further clarity on your next steps.

With this in mind, could you please contact me at sam.atkinson@ggc.scot.nhs.uk with your name, DOB and CHI number (if known). I will then look into this for you as a matter of urgency.

Best wishes,

Sam
