"The care we received was second to none"

About: Maternity care / Maternity Ward

(as a service user),

I gave birth to my son recently and wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone on the maternity wards at Victoria Hospital, in particular Harriet, Nic and Ellen during induction/labour, and Saskia and student Vicki for our postnatal care and discharge.

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel comfortable and cared for, nothing was too much trouble and all the staff from the midwives to the support workers were so friendly and attentive.

Ellen was amazing during my labour; when I doubted myself she made me feel like I could do anything, I’m so glad she was there throughout the whole experience.

After handover, Saskia and student Vicki were brilliant during our postnatal care, explaining all the checks on baby then going through a detailed checklist making sure to answer any questions we had before discharging us.

After a difficult pregnancy, I was extremely anxious and nervous about induction but the care we received was second to none and made for a really positive experience. Thanks again everyone :)

Good Morning RLH24,

Thank you for taking the time to post your experience and share the positive birth experience and support you received from our staff. Induction of labour can be a stressful time, the introduction of a dedicated Induction Suite within NHS Fife maternity has been a welcomed addition to our services.

We appreciate you recognising and highlighting the care, support and the skills of the staff who participated in your birth journey. I will ensure that is shared with them directly.

Thank you also for permitting one of our student midwives to participate in your care. It is essential for their learning but we are also appreciative of the courage and selflessness it takes from a woman to allow an additional person in, at such a momentous time of their lives. We never take that for granted.

We hope that after a difficult pregnancy that you are both now tucked up at home and enjoying this special time together.

Kindest regards

Pamela Higgins

Dear RLH24,

Congratulations on the birth of your baby boy. I would like to thank you for taking the time to feedback on your experience whilst in our care, especially since you have recently had a baby.

Induction of labour and birth can be an anxious time, the team will be delighted to hear you felt supported and cared for throughout your stay. I will personally share your praise with all the staff involved.

Wishing you and your family best wishes for the future.

from

Pamela
