"The love and care from all the wonderful staff was amazing"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Gastroenterology

(as the patient),

I was rushed into Treliske  recently with an unknown illness.  I was totally out of it and remember nothing after getting put in the ambulance with my daughter. I arrived in A and E and was immediately assessed to be very poorly, again I have no recollection of anything other than being helped with everything. I was put in a cubicle there and constantly monitored  by the amazing staff.

I moved up to a small ward and stayed there for several days before having the start  of many tests and scans. I was then moved up to the GLU ward and after having scans and cat scans it was discovered I had an abscess on my liver, never  heard of it before and was terrified to say the least.

After having 2 drains put into the abscess to drain it, more scans, antibiotics and pain control, I finally was allowed home a couple of weeks later, still on strong antibiotics for the next 40 days , plenty of outpatients appointments to follow up i am now beginning to feel human again.

But the love and care from all the wonderful staff at Treliske was amazing and I seriously can't thank them enough, from the minute I was admitted to the time I came home I totally cannot find anything but praise for every single member of staff from the amazing Doctors, nurses and all other ward staff , the porters  to the cleaners.  All  I can say is   GLU ward Treliske hospital Truro Cornwall you were and are amazing.

I work in the Emergency Department as a Sister. I support a team of nurses and doctors in delivering emergency care. I co-manage performance and conduct with the ED senior team in line with local and national policies. I believe that maintaining contact post attendance with our services users is really beneficial. Gaining your valuable feedback can help us create changes so we can deliver the best service we can.
