"Very professional and knew exactly what to do to help"

About: Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / Emergency ambulance response

(as a relative),

My mum was unwell and we phoned for an ambulance. We had a long wait as we were told when we ordered the ambulance. They arrived after 5 hour wait. The crew were Sean & Matt. They were brilliant with my mum. Caring, understanding and a wee bit of banter when we needed it. They were very professional and knew exactly what to do to help my mum. We just couldn’t thank them enough. They stayed with my mum until she was signed over to the Royal Hospital. Always checking and informing hospital staff off any changes to my mum’s health , while keeping her comfortable and warm. They definitely need to be appreciated more and paid more. Many thanks to Sean & Matt.

Good Afternoon Sheila1936,

Thank you for taking the time to share your valued feedback. We are always grateful to those who share their experiences of the services they have received. With regards to our response times please be assured that we are working closely with the Department of Health and the Strategic Planning and Performance Group to increase our available resources. We are also working with the local EDs to try to ensure that our patients can be handed over to hospital clinical teams as quickly as possible so that ambulance are able to respond to further emergencies.

It was heartening to learn how caring and understanding Sean and Matt were with your mum, especially providing a bit of banter. It is also reassuring to hear how they stayed with your mum keeping her warm and comfortable. As an organisation we are committed to consistently show compassion, professionalism, and respect for the patients we care for.

I would like to share your feedback with the clinicians who attended to you on the day and in order to locate them I would require the following information:

o Date and approximate time of the incident

o The address the ambulance was dispatched to

If you are happy to share this information, I can be contacted at: maggie.hamilton@nias.hscni.net

I hope your mum is recovering well.

Kind regards,

Maggie
