"10 out of 10 and a gold star!"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Cardiac Rehabilitation

(as a relative),

My husband received support and care from the Cardio Rehab team from Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Glasgow after having stents fitted. The staff have been fantastic. Teresa is highly knowledgeable about the procedures my husband went through. All the staff were exceptional. The nurse, Ann, gave us a very comprehensive and informative lecture which was extremely helpful as we could take notes and gained a much better understanding of everything.

After receiving 10 weeks of fitness training and an exercise program, Teresa then gave us a booklet of exercises that included photos demonstrating these so that my husband could continue to build up his strength at home. She also sat with us for over an hour, explaining everything that had been done in surgery. She was very thorough and made us aware of how best to proceed.

The staff helped us to realise how important it is to get the right balance of exercise, diet and sleep for repair, and helped reinforce how positive everything is going to be.

This service is essential for anyone who has been through heart surgery. They know what's needed and how to deliver it in a very friendly and kind way, whilst being highly professional. They make things so easy to understand - nobody would feel lost. 10 out of 10 and a gold star! We highly appreciate all they have done for us.

Dear stonebs57,

Thanks for this wonderful feedback about your husbands' interaction with the cardiac rehab team at the QEUH. I'm sure the whole team will be delighted to hear that the work they do on rehabilitation and supporting self management and care has had such a positive impact for your husbands' recovery, and helped to reassure and support you as well. I will be sure to let the whole team (and Ann and Theresa in particular) know how much their care, compassion and professionalism is appreciated.

Best wishes,

Lisa Martin,

Patient Experience Public Involvement Team.
