"risked missing appointment"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Outpatients Services

(as the patient),

I wanted to give some feedback about an admin issue following bypass surgery. This is not a complaint, but I thought it might be useful as a learning logistics. I had a follow up appointment after surgery for 9 am with cardiology, I was told to arrive earlier so that I could have x ray and ecg beforehand. I went to the x-ray department at 8am and had the x-ray taken with no problems. I then went to the ECG department to be told that it did not open until 9am, this would mean I would be late or miss my appointment with the cardiologist. Luckily the ECG staff rang the cardiology department for me and explained the situation but my feedback is that you should not make the appointments for 9am knowing the x-ray and ECG’s are needed when the department does not open until 9.

Dear Victordc88

Thank you for your recent communication regarding your attendance at the outpatients department. I very much appreciate you taking the time to highlight this very valid issue with us. I would like to reassure you that I will be investigating this and will try to remedy as soon as possible.

I do hope that any future attendances will be more streamlined and I wish you well in your ongoing care.

Best wishes

Clare
