I was on John Snow ward for my first ever surgery; a lumbar decompression. All of the staff, without exception were absolutely wonderful. I was kept informed and updated regularly about what was happening. The lovely healthcare assistant was funny and friendly whilst taking my BP & temperature at hourly intervals. Everything ran like clockwork and they have set the bar very high. I need to apologise to the (male) anaesthetic nurse who, upon coming round from my general anaesthetic, I hugged thinking it was my partner! One minor point, the ward is right above the entrance to A&E, so take some ear plugs as it can get quite noisy at night.
