"Waited 4 hours and did not see a doctor"

About: Sexual Health Services - North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent (Open Clinic)

(as a service user),

I was devastated,I waited a total of 4 hours and did not see a Dr. I saw a triage and nurse but they could not prescribe and said they wouldn't have done anyway because I had no symptoms. My condition does not show symptoms if already taking the medication. They told me to wash with some emollient. I was utterly disgusted how they dismissed me like that.

I know my own body as we all do, and know the symptoms and how uncomfortable and distressing they are. The symptoms are really very irritating and you cannot get any sleep with them . Plus I have been suffering a prolonged outbreak and when I had spoken to a member of staff on the phone 2 weeks earlier they had insisted I go to the clinic and reassured me I would see a Dr and that I needed to!

What made matters worse was that I was going on holiday the next day, and suffering symptoms so really needed some medication and did explain to the triage and next nurse I saw. The nurse was pleasant and professional in their examination but when I initially walked into the room they said they thought they knew me! The one place you don't want to be going where some one "thinks " they know you! I didn't know them.

They made an appointment for me with a Dr 2 weeks later. Useless for me. I have also have concerns that I have been taking the meds such a long time which I thought a Dr may been concerned about.

Dear neptunewz58,

Thank you for leaving feedback. I am really sorry you did not receive the treatment you felt you needed during your appointment, and for the long wait in clinic. It is disappointing that you felt dismissed and received contradictory information. I would like to look at your record and discuss this further with you if possible. If you could possibly email me on the below email address with your name, DOB and an up to date contact number please? I can then review your notes and get in touch with you.

Kind regards

Leanne Fowler
