My dad was admitted to Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, Fife, following a severe stroke. He was an inpatient there for two weeks before being moved to a stroke rehabilitation ward, Ward 7, at Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline.
The care and attention given to my dad in both hospitals was immense. In QMH, all staff, from porters, cleaners, health care assistants, charge nurses, senior charge nurses, and consultants, not forgetting speech and language and occupational therapists, were amazing. It was like my dad was part of their family! Some nursing staff would even come in to speak to him personally at the end of their shift, telling him what they were going to be up to that evening, or on their day off. He heard about so many families of staff, he really felt he was someone, not just a number. The care given was superb, with my family being kept in the loop completely regarding everything concerning my dad.
Thank you Ward 7 QMH. This seems so trivial a thing to say given the care and attention given to us all.
