"Turn up out of the blue"

About: Community Services - Eastern / Adult Community Nursing Tiverton and District Hospital

(as a carer),

The community/district nursing team at Tiverton Hospital seem to struggle with communication. They had been asked to phone before anyone visits but alas no, the nurse turned up out of the blue when it was not convenient.

The team at Tiverton seem to have a thing about turning up dead on lunchtime when other patients in the locality get morning visits.

It would be nice if someone from the trust or community team would acknowledge this!

The lack of response goes to show what care there is for patients...

Dear EatonTwinSplit

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on Care Opinion and I do apologise for the delay in coming back to you. I will ensure your story is shared with the community team at Tiverton for their review. As Care Opinion is anonymous I would advise you contact the team direct to chat through the issues you have raised.

Thank you again,

Best wishes

Teresa

Or alternatively give me an email address so I can contact them?

Trying to phone and then waiting for a call back is proving rather difficult.

Good Morning EatonTwinSplit,

My name is Victoria, I am the Manager for the Community Nurses in Tiverton. I hope I can assist with your concerns.

Firstly, I would like to apologise for the delay in the response, I have only gained access to this system very recently and been made aware of your post.

Now I have access, I would really like to look into this concern you've raised about my team. Would you kindly email me on victoria.bennett2@nhs.net, so that I can look into this further?

I appreciate you taking the time to highlight that our service is not being delivered at the high standard we strive for, and expressing your concerns. I hope we can resolve this with some changes as a result of discussing this further with yourself.

Thank you.

Kind Regards,

Victoria Bennett

CNTM Tiverton

A further update:

Following conversations with EatonTwinSplit via email, the team implemented doing their best to call ahead when able, to inform patients we will be visiting. As the service is not time specific, this can be difficult if held up with an unwell or complex patient. However the team strive to do their best to achieve this.

No offence but if a multi-drop delivery driver can call ahead I'm sure you're nurses can. It seems very much like organisation or thinking outside of the box doesn't come easy to the Health Service.
