"Cancelled appointments"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Outpatients

(as the patient),

I arrived for my appointment to be told that the clinic had been cancelled and so was my appointment. I had no notification by any means of contact, phone, email or letter.

This was the 4th cancellation from an initial appointment at the start of the year.

Receptionist was so helpful and gave me a new consultant and appointment at a nearer hospital too!

Dear 45cool

Please accept my sincere apologies regarding the cancellation of your appointment and the lack f communication. I would be grateful if you could let me know which department your appointment was for and I can bring this to the attention of the staff.

I am glad that the receptionist was so helpful and managed to arrange a new appointment at a hospital closer to home.

Best wishes

Nicole

Update posted by 45cool (the patient)

Nicole it’s not a staff issue.. the consultant I was to see was a Mr David Wright… I’ve had 3previous appointments with his clinic cancelled with weeks in between new appointments at the QEUH

8/1/24 cancelled

12/2/24 cancelled

15/2/24 cancelled

and finally the 24/6/24 no notification but clinic cancelled when I got to the dept

Nicole, what does concern me is that there has been no follow up either by phone call or email as to how my symptoms are progressing, no interest shown in the patient welfare…

The consultant should at least have apologised and explained why I’ve waited from September 23 when this problem was diagnosed

Hope this may help you Nicole

Dear 45cool

Thanks for the additional information. I have shared your feedback with my colleague Debbie Macintyre who the Clinical Service Manager for the Surgical Specialties. As Care Opinion is anonymous, can you please email Debbie with your personal details (name and date of birth) (debbie.macintyre@ggc.scot.nhs.uk) so that they can look into this further. Thank you.

Take Care

Nicole
