My daughter woke up with a really bad headache went to her work and was sent home as it was so bad, she went to bed and slept for 6 hours. She woke up and felt it was worse, she called me and I drove down to see her  asshe was only 5 mins away. When i got there she couldn't move her head or neck. I called the out of hours Doctor who advised me to take her up to A&E got her in the car.

Was seen really quickly and taken for a brain scan where they discovered she had an Aneurysm which was bleeding quite bad, she was rushed to theatre and was in there for 7 hours. The surgeon came and spoke to us before he took her down and explained exactly what he would do. He told us the risks which were really scary, but also explained it was her only chance of survival. As soon as surgery was over he came to talk to us again to tell us how well it went and what would happen next.

I cannot thank him the team in the critical care ward and ward 66 for everything they have done for my daughter but also to us as a family. Nothing has been too much for them ,they constantly come and keep us updated on my daughter's progress, every one of them have been amazing xxxxx

Hi,

Thank you so much for taking the time to tell us about the care your daughter has received, As Lead Nurse for Critical Care and Ward 66 it was with real pleasure and pride that I read your Care Opinion feedback. I will be sure to share this with Critical Care and Ward 66 teams as this will mean so much to them. Providing support to our patients family is so important to our teams, and it is lovely to hear that we supported your family through a worrying time for you all.

My best wishes for your daughter's continued recovery.

Kind regards,

Pamela (Philp)

Interim Lead Nurse Neurosurgery & OMFS
