I'm not a fan of dentists, which is how I got into this situation in the first place. I'd been suffering from a toothache on and off for a while but recently it'd gotten much worse.
I phoned Glasgow Dental Hospital at 8.30am, and told I'd receive a call back. Half an hour later and I had an appointment for that morning. Upon arrival, I was introduced to Paddy and his assistant Ali. Paddy had read from my notes I'm a bit dentophobic and he asked why. I told him I'd had bad experiences with dentists, and also that I hate anaesthetic injections.
Both Paddy and Ali were extremely understanding and patient. They looked after me so well. They took their time and made me feel so at ease. Every little thing they did, they were talking to me, explaining what they were doing, as well as how and why they were doing.
I needed an x-ray, which Paddy showed me the image and explained all the parts of the tooth, and said his recommendation was to remove the tooth and why he'd recommend it. Recalling our earlier discussion, they gave me numbing cream to put on my gums so that I wouldn't feel the anaesthetic injections.
Every single step of the way during the removal process they were encouraging, and Paddy would explain what he's doing. The procedure was relatively straightforward, and totally pain free.
After the tooth was removed, he showed me the tooth and again explained the parts of the tooth and what was causing the pain. I cannot praise Paddy and Ali enough for their work. If all dentists were like this, nobody in the world would fear dentists.
The only down side that I can say is that, being emergency dentists, I can't register them as my permanent dentist. Paddy and Ali, thank you for making my visit pain free and stress free.
