"Good & not so good"

About: Nursing / Community Nursing

(as the patient),

I visited the Hub last week for the first time as I have to start getting B12 injections. I didn't even know this place was here as it used to be a clothes shop before Covid was let loose.

I have a Mental Health condition which I've been getting help with for over 12 months and I have come a long way. It was hard enough coming here for the injections as I'm not keen on needles but when I arrived I was greeted with a smiley face which was lovely. I gave my details, took a seat and waited for my appointment.

The nurse who came for me was so nice, asking if I was alright - she was a lovely lady. I went to sit down in the cubicle area with her and the male nurse took my details and explained everything really well, as sometimes I have trouble understanding instructions etc due to my condition. He was a lovely guy, quietly spoken and calming which was good as I was quite nervous at the time.

Afterwards the nurse took me through to where there were some tables so I could get a seat as I was feeling a little lightheaded but alright. There was a lady that asked if I'd like a tea, coffee or water. I ended up having two coffees as there was another nurse that told me what services etc this drop-in Hub offered. Wow, this was amazing as like I said earlier, I didn't know what kind of place this was. Knitting groups, fresh fruit and veg grown locally that you can buy cheaply one day a week. This was perfect for someone like me who didn't get out to functions, groups etc and especially because I'm working on that with my occupational health and Psychologist.

I was writing down some information so I wouldn't forget when a different nurse came up to me and told me I can go now, I only needed to stay for 5 minutes afterwards. The nurse that had just helped with my confidence telling me to come in anytime there's so much going on etc looked at me, I looked away briefly as I feel really embarrassed for some reason being there all that time.

Overall, everything was spot on considering what's wrong with me but that fact I had to come back again for my second injection....let's just say I was really stressed in case I saw this certain nurse.
