Admitted to Vale of Leven hospital due to sepsis. I needed another line put in for the IV antibiotics. A nurse came in, went to the sink in my room, took a paper towel you dry your hands with and wet it. They then proceeded to wipe my arm with it before inserting the cannula. No gloves, no hand washing, just a wet paper towel. Not protocol at all.
They then proceeded to attach me to the drip without removing excess air bubbles from the drip line. There were literally inch long sections of air bubbles in the drip line. I expressed concern and they said it be fine and brushed me off with their hand.
The way this person conducted theirself is very concerning. I was too unwell at the time to put up a fight, but I’ll be sure to question nurses in the future.
I doubt the nurses qualifications!
