"No SUI rep present"

About: Inclusion Recovery Hampshire / Basingstoke

(as a volunteer/advocate),

I came in on a Thursday for Service User's Forum, only to be told they were out on a trip and  no SUI Rep was present.

Suggestions:

There should be Minutes of meetings so that we know if there will be a meeting and/or when they will happen.

Thank you for taking your time to provide feedback regarding your recent experience.

I am aware that this was discussed at the most recent Service User Forum and I will do my upmost to ensure that this does not occur in the future, if meetings are being cancelled this should be communicated to attendees well in advance.

Minutes should be on display on the noticeboard in the group room and in reception. Please let me know if this is not the case moving forward and I will address.

Dean - Team Leader in Basingstoke

Hi,

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I am extremely sorry that you came to the forum and the members were all away on a trip. We do try to contact members via a WhatsApp group if you have this app on your phone? I would recommend joining up if you are able to so you can keep abreast of any changes. As part of the forum we plan trips and activities and sometimes the scheduling of these activities can be a challenge. Sometimes we schedule them during the forum hours as most of the forum members sign up to come on the trips and all those who come can tend to make this time. We also have to take into account the availability of minibus drivers for the trips and when they are able to fit things in. To try and improve availability I have requested that the details of all the staff who are able to drive a 9 seater minibus, put their details forward to ensure we have a greater flexibility. Also, as a result of similar feedback across the board we have developed a group cancellation process, which we are just in the process of getting feedback on from service users. I would welcome your input on this and really like your suggestion about displaying the minutes in reception so that people can keep up to date by that mechanism too. It is normal practice to do this so my apologies that this was not done on this occasion. We will endeavour to ensure this is done in future.

I would really appreciate your input in helping us to improve our processes, please contact me on 07966899247 or simon.davis@mpft.nhs.uk to discuss how you can get involved.

Regards,

Simon Davis - SUI Coordinator
