I went to Northern General in Sheffield on the 18th October, I was not due for surgery until 19th October in the morning. I was told that I would be going down at 0830 am in the morning.
On the 19th October, the following morning a nurse came and fitted a catherter in my left hand, I was now ready to go for my surgery - the time was 0830. At 0920 I was told by a nurse that I was going down for surgery and was taken into a room and waited 2 hours until 1130 am, 3 staff members came to check all the paperwork.
I was taken back onto the ward at 1250pm, I was told I was having surgery at 0830 in the morning, I was not very happy.
The nurses were very good. My opinion is that you should not be taken off the ward until they are ready for you.
