"Absolutely appalling!"

About: Sevenoaks Hospital

4 hours waiting for a suspected wrist fracture for my 11 year old, for them to say x-ray is now closed!!! Still have not been seen my a doctor. What is that? If they could not or are not willing to him he they should have just told us from the start and we would have taken him to another hospital! Absolutely appalling do not come here if you actually want to be seen or have x-ray

Dear Anonymous,

We are sorry that you had cause to complain regarding your experience at Sevenoaks Urgent Treatment Centre.

Our UTC team lead has offered some comments which relate to the concerns you have raised.

Firstly, we would just like to clarify that our clinicians are UTC practitioners, not doctors. Any suspected fracture will have a full clinical assessment prior to the practitioner making the decision to request an x-ray. When the unit is exceptionally busy, as it sounds in this case, there is a possibility that x-ray will be closed (5pm), when the full assessment has been completed. Patients are triaged and assessment on arrival to ensure their safety to wait and we are unable to predict patient attendance and invariably this will incur a waiting time if there are high levels of activity.

We would like to look further into your concerns but require more information, therefore would you please contact us on the below contact details, if you wish to, to enable us to do so.

Best wishes,
