"No communication at all of waiting time"

About: Craigavon Area Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

Arrived in Craigavon Hospital on a Saturday at 8pm, with a damaged shoulder. Didn't mind waiting, but at 3:25am on Sunday morning I was still waiting and no sign of any treatment. There were also other patient sitting there wondering what day they will be seen.

It seemed only one doctor working there. No communication at all of waiting time. Pain getting worse, but not able to talk to anyone.

Drunken guy came in, he was seen before everyone else, maybe that’s the strategy.

Staff member dandered in there and took a look….. must have decided all is well and 8hr wait is normal.

Dear R.A thertired - thank you so much for providing this feedback and may I apologise most sincerely for the delay in responding to you. We are very sorry that you had a long wait in the department. Unfortunately with the extreme pressures on all our Emergency Departments, waiting times have become a major challenge for us. We endeavour to let patients know of the anticipated waiting time through the triage nurses and the nurse responsible for hydration, observations, pain relief/pressure relief. Waiting times can also be checked via the NI Direct website at www.nidirect.gov.uk

Thank you again for your feedback

Kind Regards
