"Calming & trusted relationship with my midwife."

I can’t thank the Lotus team from Causeway Hospital enough for the excellent service and care they provided myself and my family during pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

Sarah was our midwife who was with us from the early weeks, till the days after having our daughter.

Every appointment I had with Sarah helped put my mind at ease. Whether through chatting about hypnobirthing, how to cope when in labour, or just general day to day life. Sarah would come to my house for appointments or at the hospital - so accommodating around my schedule as a working mum with a toddler at home. She was always at the end of the phone if I needed anything. I also got to meet the team of other midwives in the Lotus team who all made me feel at ease.

A few days prior to having our baby I didn’t feel great. I contacted Sarah asking for advice and she called out to our house to check in on me - little did I know our daughter would be coming soon! A few days later I started having contractions and contacted Sarah to let her know how I was feeling. She came out to the house late that afternoon to check me - baby was coming tonight! I hadn’t even reached 38 weeks yet! This was the complete opposite to my son who came 10 days after his due date. Sarah even rang ahead to Antrim to let them know I would be on my way soon so that my husband and I could just get things packed and ready to go as we really weren’t that prepared!

Sarah then arrived to Antrim hospital and led our care from here. She was so calm, which made me feel calm to. It felt great to have my midwife with me who I’ve built a relationship with over the past few months. Even though Antrim was quite busy the night our baby was born, it didn’t feel like it at all. I was in the zone using all the advice/hypnobirthing techniques we had discussed at our appointments.

Our daughter was born in the early hours of Saturday morning - delivered by our midwife Sarah. The birth experience was so different from my son and I credit that to the calming and trusted relationship with my midwife.

Overall I am so grateful for the care and services of the Lotus team who have made this whole experience so positive. A huge thank you to Sarah who went above and beyond - both my husband and I can’t thank you enough!
