"My daughter's x-ray"

About: Trauma & orthopaedics / Orthopaedic National Treatment Centre Victoria Hospital / Radiology

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter had an appointment for an x-ray and the staff from the x-ray department were getting my daughter to go in the room on her own (I understand the radiation etc but she’s very nervous).

But the lovely staff at the reception got her dad to go in with her so she wasn’t on her own. I feel young kids should have that option if they want but not every child is confident enough for these situations.

Can’t thank the two ladies at the reception who helped us.

Dear rainjp73,

Thank you for taking the time to feedback on your family's experience in x-ray. Due to radiation regulations we will endeavour to have as minimal people in the x-ray room where possible, but it is understandable that, children especially, can be anxious in a hospital environment.

I am glad that the situation was eventually resolved and your daughter had the support of her Dad in the room during her examination.

I will feedback to the radiology team about the importance of putting patients at as much ease as possible for their examinations, and wish your daughter and your family all the best going forward.

Many Thanks,

Zoë Maclaughlan
