"The staff were amazing"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / General Medicine (Wards 8, 10, 11, 14, 15, 18 & 27) Royal Alexandra Hospital / Medical Assessment Unit (MAU)

(as a service user),

I was recently an inpatient transferred from MAU to Ward 15. I didnt get off to a good start on the ward due to my distress and being overwhelmed. Although I found the environment overstimulating and unbearable at times the staff who work on the ward were amazing. May, Diolon and Nicole in particular were so patient and understanding with me and did their best to keep me settled as did all the other Nurses and HCAs. I dont think it was the right ward for me but they did the best they could to meet my needs given how busy they were. I would also like to make mention of Jen, Lee and Jade from MAU who were part of my initial care team on arrival.

Dear DMANM

Thank you for sharing your recent experience of attending the General Medicine Ward of the Royal Alexandra Hospital with us.

We greatly appreciate your feedback and are sorry to hear that your initial time on the ward was distressing and overwhelming. However, we are heartened to know that despite these challenges, our staff were able to provide you with compassionate and understanding care.

It is wonderful to hear that May, Diolon, Nicole, and the other nurses and healthcare assistants on the ward made such a positive impact during your stay. Your recognition of their dedication and professionalism means a lot to us, and we will ensure that your kind words are shared with them.

We also appreciate your mention of Jen, Lee, and Jade from the Medical Assessment Unit who were part of your initial care team. Their involvement in your care set the stage for the support you received throughout your hospital stay and I will be sure to pass your thanks onto them also.

Kind regards

Kevin
