I was visiting my Dad in the Oncology Ward 3 at the Edinburgh Cancer Centre at the Western General on the second floor and I was blown away by how kind and attentive the staff were there.
It’s such a difficult and worrying time for myself and my family in particular my Dad at the moment as he goes through treatment for Lymphoma Cancer but the warmth and kindness of the staff in Ward 3 really lights up your mood when you are in a hard situation.
The staff who asked if we wanted a tea or coffee whilst we were visiting my Dad and the Nurses who showed us directions to Dad's room were all so pleasant and kind. But the highlight of my visit was Gary the Staff Nurse working on dayshift.
Nurse Gary was so attentive with my Dad and had a lot of time for my Dad as my Dad likes to chat and tell stories, Gary was so kind and gentle as a Nurse and had good humour. He is very personable and appeared to be brilliant at his job and such a people person.
With such a hard job the Nurses do on these wards due to their difficult nature, I was just blown away with how kind Gary was and his nice nature and fun humour despite being very busy and nearing the end of his long day shift. He is a credit to the ward and the team at the Edinburgh Cancer Centre and thank you to Gary and all the staff for being so caring with my Dad during his stay there. Thanks again.
