I was diagnosed with low grade Prostate cancer 5 years ago after a TURP operation. Last year it got worse. The Urology team at Ottery St Mary were superb in explaining things to me.
I was then transferred to the Oncology unit in Exeter where they suggested a month of radiotherapy. All the staff in the unit were so caring and helpful and there was always a smile, even during the painful times.
The ongoing after care from Oncology has been excellent and reassuring.
I have been so fortunate to be offered an eight week Physiotherapy course (Prost8), by the Living With and Beyond Cancer Team (which in themselves have been so supportive).
Rachel, who has led the course has equipped me and the other men with techniques to manage after effects of the treatment, and equally it has helped with my osteoarthritis. It was well worth the two hours driving each week to Ottery St Mary Hospital, which is a wonderful hospital with great staff.
I love the way that Rachel has looked holistically at individuals on the course and referred me on to additional support by a dietician and Urology. What a fantastic service.
I trust that this course can be available to many more patients in our great NHS. It has been so good to know that there are people, like Rachel, who care, and we know we are not alone through not the best time in my life. Thank you so much.
