"Triage took no look at her"

About: Medway Maritime Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a relative),

My mother after battling through gp appointments and xrays for 4 weeks, with a swollen, stiff foot which started expanding to her ankles, was given codeine for the pain by gp but no help for the swelling. The next day it was beginning to swell on her calve and sending shooting pains up her leg.

111 was called they insisted on going a&e. When arrived, was sent straight to meddocc. 5 and half hours later and still hadn't been seen. The swelling was unbearable for her and radiating further up her leg. When I asked for an update at the desk I was told I already knew it says on the board the wait time. I explained the swelling was getting worse, then was told would be another 2 hours. This would have been to 12am after we arrived at 4.30pm. I had to take her home due to exhaustion from her not being able to sleep for 3 days with the pain. Triage took no look at her leg at all and apparently only took blood pressure to make sure she was fit to wait for 5+ hours.
