"Fantastic care"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Cardiothoracic Surgery Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Pre-Operative Assessment Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Theatres and Recovery

(as a service user),

I was recently admitted for thoracic surgery and I wanted to share how thankful I was to every single person I interacted with at the Edinburgh royal infirmary.

I received amazing care from the admissions area to discharge.

I will try and highlight some names I remember and apologise for anyone I missed out.

Pre-assessment cardio thoracic where Lesley coordinated my assessments seamlessly while putting me at ease and taking care of me and my husband as well as juggling lots of other patients. Tonia in ECG was lovely too as were all the staff.

Medical Intervention unit where I spent the ore-theatre night due to shortage of beds had lovely Louise on the night shift in charge and she was so caring and kind to me and everyone.

The OPD team and Dr Morris and Dr Abigail were so kind and considerate when I was feeling scared before the op.

In surgical high dependency Nina and Amelia were my staff nurses whilst I stayed and were kind, professional and so skilled with all of my needs. All the other staff including Dr Mathew were so kind and caring also.

Moving to ward 102 I had great care from Tracey (day) and Alan (nightshirt) and they were so lovely as were all the rest the staff.

The physio team, specialist nurses and care assistants and student nurses all demonstrated such great care and skill across my stay too,

Special mention to the consultant Mr Chambers (surgeon) who consistently kept me and my husband updated in a caring, professional way from the first clinic visit to my discharge from hospital at such a scary time and I am very grateful for his expert care. Nothing is too much trouble in, I  would imagine an extremely busy schedule.

I really cannot put into words how proud NHS Lothian should be of the staff I encountered. Always friendly and approachable and nothing was too much trouble.

Thank you very much
