I’ve been having some issues with irregular periods.
Initially the doctor took swabs to test, once these come back clear I was referred to gyne. The gynaecologist and team were really friendly and put me at ease. Once they examined me, they also couldn’t see anything so was referred for a scan.
The process was fine and I couldn’t have asked for nicer people but the results is where I feel really let down.
Unfortunately, it’s come back with a diagnosis of Adenomyosis, something I have no knowledge of. The letter felt very vague and provided no information regarding the condition.
They had contacted my GP to take further bloods to check for PCOS which thankfully I don’t have.
The letter says the scan suggests that I possibly have a condition called Adenomyosis which can give irregular bleeding. The treatment for this would be the mirena coil.
The lack of information provided with the letter, no leaflet about the condition, no follow up to speak with anyone about what it is, the severity of it.
I’ve joined support forums and turned to searching online to find answers.
At the end of the letter it says - hopefully this plan is acceptable to you.
My problem is I think I have a condition that’s making me bleed irregularly and can be fixed with birth control but after research this can be a horrible condition to have and cause infertility.
I’m approaching my 30s and no conversation has been had in regards to what my plans are for the future and what my options are.
Upon reading the letter, searching online and finding infertility and hysterectomy in the answers was completely shocking and made me really upset and had to go cry in the toilets at work.
I really wish I was called back to talk with a professional on my plan and give me the information I needed to know.
If bloods can be arranged on the back of this a doctor’s appointment should be too.
Thanks
